4 Indonesian female singers sing the Disney's live action 'Mulan' soundtrack
Four talented singers from Indonesia will sing the iconic Mulan song entitled Reflection. Yura Yunita, SIVIA, Agatha Pricilla, and Nadin Amizah.
The song was first performed in the 1998 animated version of Mulan by Filipino actress-singer Lea Salonga. American star Christina Aguilera also sang her film version of the song, which became her debut single the same year. In 2020, Aguilera released a new version of Mulan's live-action adaptation.
Yura said that the process went smoothly with four singers performing one song, as everyone was familiar with the song. Yura said during a press conference at Disney's Mulan on Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday,
"Maybe because we're friends, it didn't take too long to split our singing parts."
Sivia Azizah also had a different story when she was offered to sing the soundtrack. She admitted that she was happy to be able to work with a line of popular singers.
"Thank you for inviting collaboration because I grew up with Disney music. I grew up with Disney songs from a young age and was first called I was 'oh really really happy," Sivia said.
In the meantime, Agatha Priscilla told a little story about the album. In 1998, Disney debuted the animated version of Mulan. It focuses on a courageous young woman who has become one of the greatest warriors in China. The film was adapted to this year's star-studded live-action movie starring Liu Yifei as Hua Mulan, Yoson An as Honghui, Gong Li as Xiannian, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, and Jet Li as Emperor of China.
Live-action Mulan will be released in Indonesia on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform from Dec. 4 in its original and Indonesian-dub versions with English and Indonesian subtitles. The Indonesian version will include the voices of the actors Yuki Kato (Mulan), Dion Wiyoko (Honghui), and Luna Maya (Xianniang).
