Warner Bros. buys Indonesia's 'Beach Buds' kids series
Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America has acquired the rights to play the Indonesian-produced children's animated series "The Beachbuds" on both streaming services and pay television in Latin American countries. It has not yet been revealed when "The Beachbuds" will premiere on television.
Following the previously announced arrangements with The Walt Disney Company for Japan, Disney+ Hotstar for Southeast Asia, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for Australia, this comes as the latest development. Odin's Eye Animation, situated in Australia, is in charge of licensing. It is a sister company to Odin's Eye Entertainment, which has been in the business of selling films for a very long time.
The first season of "The Beachbuds" is an animated children's series that consists of 52 episodes, each of which is 11 minutes long. The series is set at the Zoobak Resort, a tropical island paradise inhabited by the silliest feathered friends. Kids between the ages of 6 and 11 will be entertained by "The Beachbuds," which also serves as a platform for imparting wisdom in the areas of peace, hospitality, and comedy.
Primetime Emmy winner Steven Banks ("Lego: City Adventures," "SpongeBob SquarePants") teams up with talented writers including Ken Goin ("Family Guy," "Tripping the Rift") and John R. Morey ("Family Guy," "The George Lopez Show"), as well as director George Samilski ("The Dragon Prince," "Reboot," and "Stormhawks").
Bayo, the resort's authority on hospitality, Alejandro, the naive lifeguard, Nola, the gritty and attractive security agent, Mr. Putu, the reluctant manager, Pon Pon, the hot-tempered cook, and Ozo, the grumpy handyman, are some of the interesting characters that appear on the show.
Iskander Tjahjadi, president and executive producer at JToon Studios, the Indonesian production company behind the series, stated that "We believe 'The Beachbuds' will fascinate the heart of kids and families worldwide and we have great confidence in OEA's capabilities and vast experiences to successfully distribute the series globally." OEA is the company that will be responsible for the global distribution of the series.
Michael Favelle, the CEO and creator of OEA, was recently quoted as saying, "We are pleased by the continuous success of this new series and Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America is an ideal partner."
